Before you can begin work in UltraDev, you have to set up the database connection there as well. This is just so that UltraDev can have a list of all your database connections all the time. You can then choose which ones you want to work with later. This takes a couple of minutes and here’s how.

Open up UltraDev and go to the Modify > Connections… menu. It’ll bring up a window like this:

If you press the New… button it will open up a window where you can very simply tell it the connection you want to add (below). In the name box you can just type in the DSN name you gave your ODBC connection name earlier in the first part of this exercise. This will just help you organize things better.

Then you just need to select than name from the DSN drop down menu. You don’t need a username or password on this exercise. Later on you can add them to your ODBC database connections if you want.

And that’s it. Just press OK. And you should now see the new connection name in the menu. Press Done.
